Directions to Trailheads:
Junction Creek Trailhead: Latitude:  37.3314, Longitude:  -107.9030 Elevation:  7,054 feet From Main Avenue in Durango (Hwy 550) turn West onto 25th Street.  This will become Junction Creek road, follow it for a little over 3 miles to the trailhead located on the left side of the road just past the large parking area with restrooms.
Upper Junction Creek Trailhead: Latitude:  37.3375, Longitude:  -107.9192 Elevation:  7,305 feet From Main Avenue in Durango (Hwy 550) turn West onto 25th Street.  This will become Junction Creek Road, follow it for almost 5 miles.  There will be parking on both sides of the gravel road at this trailhead, and a brown sign visible to the left that labeled “Colorado Trail.”  This trailhead is only a couple of miles past the main trailhead.  If you reach the turn-off for the campground area you have gone too far.
Log Chutes Trailhead: Latitude:  37.3399, Longitude:  -107.9091 Elevation:  7,656 feet Turn West onto 25th Street from Main Avenue (Highway 550) in Durango.  This street will become Junction Creek Road.  Follow this for roughly 6 miles.  This will take you past the both trailhead for the Colorado Trail and past the campground area.  There will be sign on the right labeled Log Chutes at a road off to the right, turn right onto this road.  It will become a parking area for the trailhead, past the parking area the road is closed to motorized vehicle use.
Animas Overlook Trailhead Latitude:  37.3624, Longitude:  -107.8824 Elevation: 9,072 feet From Main Avenue (Highway 550) in Durango turn West onto 25th Street.  This street will become Junction Creek Road (Country Road 204), follow it for roughly 10.5 miles to reach the overlook parking lot off to the right side of the gravel road.  This area is accessible to handicap and also offers restrooms and picnic tables.
